In brief

http://www.whatthehack.org is the dutch session of a bi-yearly European hackmeeting taking place on a large event-campground in the south of The Netherlands from 28 until 31 July 2005.

It's the perfect place for a dorkbot, in fact, whatthehack *needs* us. This would be a great opportunity to find new potential dorkbot groups from all over europe, and see some marvellous presentations. I have a feeling there will be no shortage of talent - either to show there, or to research and bring back to our regional dorkbots.

Dorkbot.eindhoven - the nearest dorkbot chapter, has kindly offered to come and co-ordinate dorkbot efforts on the ground. All we need to do is announce this to our various communities, make sure we bring the right initial presenters and some good materials (more t-shirts!) and the dorkbots will be coming out of the woodwork.

dorkbotters who will be coming

how this might work

Whatthehack has a rather complex plone installation as their community management software that allows each participant to propose events and request resources / space / programme information. We need to get a simple plan together, write some blurb about dorkbot - which is pretty much 'people doing strange things with electricity' and a link.

Then, it'll be a matter of putting together one dorkbot from hell - a mobilisation of the talents and skills of our network to put on an absolutely killer event. We could do one per night, possibly leaving the presentation slots very open to participation after the first one - and having more opendorks of 7 minute presentations after the standard 3 20-30 min slots.

Any ideas or issues, requirements and organisation can be ironed out on this wiki, or on the dorkbot-overlords mailing list. However, I think it might be a good idea to make a special mailing list ofr dorkbot.whatthehack - so people from all our networks - not just overlords can join, chat, make suggestions and then get motivated to come!
