I'm mostly a software guy who started tinkering in electronics a while back. Here's a list of some of the stuff I do:
I invented GStreamer, now the de facto multimedia infrastructure for Linux, and currently shipping on e.g. the Nokia 770 and N800, etc.
Neat tidbit: Snocap, the company selling tracks through MySpace, uses GStreamer in their backend
I co-own Vcolo.com, which uses User-Mode-Linux to provide virtual hosting where the customer controls everything above the kernel
I mix sound and do lights at my church, and create a lot of tech to make that all work.
My most recent creation is a set of LED lights, a driver and 8 fixtures with 24 each of red, green, blue, and white LEDs. Total of 768 LEDs, ~60W, driven via DMX-512. gallery
I'm also building a Nokia 770-based control panel to control the house lights, with multipoint touch-screen control via WiFi, ArtNet, and DMX-512
I built a compass/servo module for the world's leading (95+% world market) borehole geophone (datasheet PDF): image
